Dr. Gregory Schackel

Greg Schackel, MD, Board Certified in Otolaryngology who received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1985. He completed a surgical internship and residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at University of Utah in 1991.Dr. Schackel specializes in the treatment of children and adults with ear, nose & throat conditions. As founding owner of Southwestern Colorado Ear, Nose and Throat he has obtained over 40 years of experience in head & neck surgery, facial cancer, sinus, ear, nasal surgeries, tonsillectomies, ear tube placement and Micro chisel ear surgery for removal of bony ear growths aka “Kayakers or Surfers Ear”.

Dr. Rachel Cain

Dr. Cain a Durango native is a board-certified otolaryngologist who earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont. Subsequently going on to complete internship and residency in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. After receiving extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to the ears, nose, and throat in both children and adults she returns as the co-owner of Southwestern Colorado Ear, Nose and Throat. Dr. Cain is committed to establishing strong doctor-patient relationships built on trust, respect, and open communication by providing additional specialty services such as Earwell a non-surgical treatment of newborn ear deformities and Inspire implant surgery for obstructive sleep apnea.

Erin Hamlin PA-C

Erin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Wellness from Ball State University 1998, and in 2000 completed the Physician Assistant Program in St. Louis, Missouri.

Erin has 24 years of combined experience with a specialty in the areas of cardiovascular surgery, nephrology and otolaryngology medicine making her an excellent lead to our clinical team. Dedication to providing personalized care to her patients, focusing on comprehensive evaluations and tailored treatment plans to address individual health needs makes her as amazing addition to the team.

Morgan Manulik PA-C

Morgan was born and raised in Midland, Texas, and completed undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Obtaining a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree at Texas Tech University. Morgan spent 2 years in West Texas as a Hospitalist Physician Assistant. Moving to the Four Corners in 2010 to accept a job in the field of Neurology. Morgan has developed a passion for treating sleep problems and migraines. As the newest member of our team Morgan aims to include ENT into his areas of passion. Now providing Botox for Migraines.

Wendy Stapleton, PA-C

Wendy received her Bachelor of Science in medical science-physician assistant degree from Alderson-Broaddus College Philippi, WV in 1994. Early experiences including the areas of Atlanta & Dallas laid the base of her 26 years of experience which includes an accumulation of general orthopedics, sports and otolaryngology medicine. In 1998 Wendy made Durango her home where she has continued the majority of her career as a valued member of Southwestern Colorado ENT.
